Sure thing
Written by hootenannie on September 18th, 2008This is my nephew Micah. He is 4. He is one of my favorite humans on the planet, tied only with his little brother Tyler.
Micah has always been advanced when it comes to speech – he has a large vocabulary, and is not afraid to use it. Recently, during a game of Candyland, he lectured my mom about her “options.” He has been known to pick up and then repeat phrases that he probably never should have heard, such as:
“That cat crapped on me.”
“Good Lord!”
And my personal favorite:
“Screw you, Jessie!” Said with much enthusiasm and gusto.
Lately, due to some unknown source of inspiration, Micah has been bringing back a great expression.
Micah, do you like trains?
“I sure do!”
Micah, are you excited for school?
“I sure am!”
Micah, aren’t these cookies delicious?
“They sure are!”
An earnest and ardent affirmation. I love the way that Micah embraces life wholeheartedly, and expresses his unbridled excitement. I want to be more like him.
I sure do.

I love when kids discover language. It opens all new worlds for them. My favorite was when my oldest niece, Candace (somehow Aunt Debbie got the blame) learned the phrase. “Let’s blow this taco stand!” Usually said very loudly in very public places. When she was very ready to leave. She was 4.

this is about your last post. YOGA. i promise. i have had chronic shoulder/neck pain since high school that causes tension headaches, nausea, insomnia, etc. yoga is the only thing that helps.

there is NO KID that matches the adorableness that comes out of that kid’s mouth. seriously.

Sayings like that make me want a nephew so badly! And those eyes… goodness gracious, he’s adorable!

Yes! Yes! Yes! The rawness and earnestness of what kids say is my favorite. It makes me miss the girl who used 42 exclamation points on a literature test last year. Intelligent kids are so much fun.
Not that un-intelligent kids aren’t, but you know what I mean.
