i read Atonement last year and i really liked it, but I still haven’t seen the movie!

But I did see Star Trek. And it was excellent. I knew nothing of the storyline, but you don’t have to. It’s a great prequel, fun and action packed, the cast is awesome– and James T. Kirk is indeed scruffy and cocky and yummy. Get on it, you know you want to. ;)

i saw atonement last year, and it’s stuck with me ever since. it’s a haunting film. i’m not sure if i was supposed to learn something good from it, as i was something true, and possible.

also, i’m a total trekky. still love me?

I don’t know how much I took away from film school, practically speaking. But I did discover this: there is a pronounced difference between a “Film” and a “Movie”. Films are meant to be cerebral and didactic. Sometimes the artiness of a film means there’s no lesson. That’s their point. Oooooh.

But then again, there are movies. The creators of movies do so to entertain you. You’re supposed to be having fun! Tapeheads, Wayne’s World, Die Hard, etc. Crack a soda and rediscover your love of candy! I’d say Star Trek falls in this category. So I dare YOU to convince me that you don’t like the occasional movie.

Oh, I agree w/Angie – Kirk and Spock are both pretty hot in the new movie. And Kirk’s dad, who looked an awful lot like him.

I’ve seen Atonement – loved it – but – I loved Star Trek even more. Give in.

What’sherface is really a good actress – I had to go look her up – Kiera Knightly. Either she knows how to pick ‘em or I like her style. Pride and Prejudice is one of my all time favorite movies.

I am very, I repeat VERY much so not an avid fan of Star Trek and up until last week had never even seen so much as 5 seconds of the show/previous movies.

I went. And, as much as I try to suppress that inner nerd in me, I have to admit, I really liked it.

Besides, young Captain Kirk is hot. And without the eyebrows & ears, Spock kind of is too.
