All That I Want [new song]

blog

It’s been awhile, but I’ve written a new song.

I love this description of the creative process, especially because it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who experiences #3 and #4. Actually, I tend to get stuck there – which is probably why I finish so few creative endeavors these days.

But I pushed myself to finish this one, and even though I want to apologize for its imperfections, I’m making myself share it. Even if it’s just a work tape and even if my guitar skills are bad and even if I’m not sure about certain parts SEE I NEED TO STOP APOLOGIZING AND JUST PUT IT OUT THERE.

Because you guys are safe, right? Thanks for listening.

[I’ve taken the track down for now. Maybe you’ll hear it again someday.]

Of course we’re safe! I think it’s a great song albeit quite gut-wrenchingly sad. It made me want to give you a hug, then punch the other person in the mouth.

I love that description of the creative process, and while you may feel you get stuck on #3 and #4, the fact that you get past them is pretty awesome.

Thanks for sharing your song, Annie.

More, more… Encore, Encore! Loved it. Beautiful and pure voice, Annie. Your voice is flawless and so unique. Please don’t stop making music. It’s truly a gift you have. And a treasure. And I love your guitar playing- beautiful music. I think God must smile a great, big ole, satisfied smile and take a sigh of relief up there when you make your music. Keep on keepin’ on. Thank you!

What kind of recording setup are you using?

  14. hootenannie on April 15, 2014 at 9:06 AM

Joey – just the mic in my Macbook, straight into Garage Band. I’m looking into some kind of external USB mic, but for a little recording like this, I think this worked pretty well!
