Word nerd

blog

I love words. I love them, I love them, I love them!!! I love learning new words, and incorporating them into every day language; I read the dictionary more than the Bible. I don’t recommend that to any of you… but it helps during Scrabble, which, by the way, is one of the few possessions I have left after The Great Purge.

So now, a couple of tidbits of joy, straight from me to you…

My latest favorite words:
falter
aplomb
prowess
pilgrim
ameliorate

The world’s greatest palindrome:
Go hang a salami, I’m a lasagna hog.

And very appropriate for today:
triskaidekaphobia \tris-ky-dek-uh-FOH-bee-uh\, noun:
A morbid fear of the number 13 or the date Friday the 13th.

Happy weekend!

I went to a funeral today where the pastor who did the sermon explained that whole phobia of Friday the 13th. How timely of you to raise it to my attention again.

Ha ha! I love to read the dictionary, too! People always laugh, but now I try to justify it by saying that it is “professional development.” I’m glad to know there are others out there!

THat was sooooo the word of the day on http://www.dictionary.com.

Ok, so I rarely look at the dictionary (although I’m more inclined to now after reading your blog) but the one time I did was last Friday and I remember that was the word of the day.

    Wow.
