Why blogging pays off
I am a permanence kind of girl. I like things to be guaranteed, absolute, forever and ever.
But in the past 6 months, my life has been lacking in the whole “permanence” department. Change has been my only constant. Which is why this morning, when I took a job that begins with “temporary,” I felt like God was pointing at me and saying, “Haha, sucka!”
I spent 3 1/2 hours at the temp agency, interviewing and testing my skills on the computer. And I feel compelled to announce that I have THE HIGHEST SCORES THEY HAVE EVER SEEN. I am the victor, the champion, the valedictorian of temp work. I don’t know if this should make me laugh or cry.
I type 96 words per minute. And I attribute every swift key stroke to this blog – and you, my faithful readers.

i do think there’s something profound about your realization that everything currently is temporary… even the sort of job you’re getting.
the temporary place is not a fun place, but i think it’s a rich place, possibly even a God-ordained place.
i think of hosea 2, specifically 14, 15:
“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.
There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will sing as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.”

did, i ever tell you that i ALMOST wore my favorite blue puffy vest on sunday, but then was quite happy i didnt when i saw you busting out yours. 2 puffy vests amongst 10 people might have been a bit much!
(personally, i try to keep the puffy vest wearing percentage at about 10 – 17% per present population)

Congrats on your scores! (I can completely relate to the tension you’re experiencing.) I told you … as a former “temper” myself, they are going to treat you like a rock star. Take advantage of it! (Trust me, these folks at the agency KNOW you don’t truly belong in the temp world. They will be thrilled to help propel you into the best job openings they’ve got. After all, you are going to make them look GOOD.)
