Deep breath

blog

Tonight is the night. My first time playing out in Nashville.

Good thing that I will only have to say that once in my entire life.

Eleanor Roosevelt said to “do something everyday that scares you.” Apparently I haven’t done anything scary for about 9 years, and it is all converging in this one little 3-song event. Then again, for as terrifying as it all seems, it’s also exciting to finally, FINALLY be doing something.

The past 6 months or so have held the consistent theme of letting go of perfectionism. It’s a hard lesson to learn, but also… freeing. It doesn’t have to be perfect. I don’t have to be perfect. The important thing is to try. And to wear something cute while doing it.

I often wear a necklace inscribed with another Eleanor Roosevelt saying to remind myself that i am in charge of achieving my destiny: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Do you believe? I do. You’ll be great!!

Oh, and i also find that confidence usually lurks in a great pair of shoes, so choose wisely!

and tell yourself, “I am the shit!” (sorry to those my vulgarity offends) That’s what I say to myself and Los to pump us up. Don’t tell anyone:)

I know you. You’re amazing. So just go be you. No one else can.

I am the shit who believes in the beauty of my dreams, I am the shit who believes in the beauty of my dreams, I am the shit…..
I am dying out here – not able to be there. Tearing up at the slightest provocation. I am so proud of my little girl!!!! Knock ’em dead.
    Tons of love,

Annie, this is so exciting! I’m sure you’ll do fantastic. I actually had my first experience with this just last night. I’m singing in a band from NY for a few shows around the northwest and our first was up in Vancouver. Granted, it’s not my own material, but it was still terrifying but SO MUCH FUN. Once you get past the first line of the first song, you’ll forget about being nervous and blow everyone away with your talent.

    Good luck!

just picture everybody in their underwear. And I say that boldly because I won’t be there.

I’m in DC… but my heart and thoughts are with you. You will be fabulous.

sorry if your blog gets dirty, i just spit out my afternoon cup of tea all over the computer at what your mom said. Moms rule!

so all of my inspirational words have been slightly stifled as i cannot get over mom’s own comment.

but it’s so cool that you are really going for it tonight. i’m not sure i ever could. just remember you are court players trained – if you can play a sheep, a nasty ninevite, and an angel with pride, you can be annie the singer just as well (and with all the more reason to be proud) :)
