JAM in action

Julie [about our 61-year old next-door neighbor]
“I want Neal to fall in love.  I wonder if he has a beau?”

Annie
“A beau is a man.”

Julie
“What – really?  I always thought it was gender-neutral.”

– – – – – – – –

Mel
“Do we have koozies?”

Annie
“No… but… we have couscous?”

– – – – – – – –

Mel [singing at the top of her lungs]
“Listen to the battering ram…”

Annie
“Mel, it’s ‘Mandolin Rain.’”

– – – – – – – –

[at the end of “Marley and Me”]
JAM
SOB.

    Beau is male.
    Belle is female.

Both just mean a beautiful man or beautiful woman… but over the years became synonymous with boyfriend/girlfriend.

    I’m just full of googlery!

Yeah, “Broad” is a very derogatory term implying that a woman is person of low moral standing/ a person of ill repute. Also it implies that she is low even amoung other women of her sort.

“Belle” is what you’re looking for with out a doubt.

I always thought the song went “listen to the rhythm of the rain…” At least I got “rain” out of it. Great song.
