The upcoming holiday weekend

blog

Whoa.  Didn’t mean to quit blogging.  But it happened for a second.

– – – – – – – –

I was invited to spend this coming Saturday on a pontoon boat with 30 other people.

I would rather streak across a golf course.

Many of the people who are going to be on the boat read this blog, and I want you to know that truly, it’s not you – it’s me.  Nowhere on my list of favorite things does it read “sun,” “heat,” “burn,” “sweat,” or “stranded with no escape.”

Incidentally, these are all of the same reasons I hated summer camp – although I can emphatically say that the number one reason I hated summer camp was the fear of getting my first period away from home.  (Sorry for saying “period.”  Oh, and sorry for saying it again.)

Instead of doing something summery and boatish and what some might call “dreamy,” my Memorial Day weekend plans include the following:
–    Pet-sitting for a former co-worker (uh oh)
–    Cleaning out the 12-year old black lab’s eyes on a daily basis (the owner showed me how – and I’m serious, I might vomit every day)
–    Seeing Lori McKenna at 12th & Porter on Friday night – oh, sweet bliss!
–    Babysitting for very cute twins on Saturday night
–    Holding babies in the church nursery on Sunday night
–    Welcoming Julie back from the Caribbean
–    Welcoming Nashville Miranda back from Argentina
–    Hanging with Erin Castioni – which could quite possibly lead to all manner of spontaneity.  I mean, remember last time?

What are YOU doing for Memorial Day weekend?

well, I feel honored to be the FIRST to comment.
My plans for the weekend are a bit lackluster as well, but nonetheless fabulous:
-pack up my darling apartment (tear) to ready myself for a move next weekend. This makes me sad.
-workout. Lots. Because I haven’t been. At all. ;)
-read a book. Because again, I haven’t been. At all.
-I’ve reserved Sunday and Monday for beach cabin time with the fam. Little darlings, the reclining sun chair, and me.

oh, an Annie. I did it.

maybe we can start the weekend early tonight at Rumours East? Wine tasting on the patio… holla.

Also – did you get the evite form Mark Miller for Monday’s Grill out and Horseshoe Tournament at Drew & Casey’s? it’s become a Nashville staple. Hard to pass up seeing Miller become the Natzi Horseshoe Commandant… and the vodka infused watermelon. Oh my…

Danny and I are having a “staycation” in a town about an hour away. Other than that, we’ll be (hopefully) welcoming Angela’s new baby and painting on the ranch. I can’t wait to live there!

P.S. I really want to see Lori McKenna. Tell her to come to Dallas.

I’m gonna be at a friend’s cabin until Sunday. And then working on the album recording all day Monday! Hope you don’t die of heat in the south. We’ve had BEAUTIFUL, amazing weather this year so far. So I’m going to enjoy it! :)

I couldn’t agree with you more about the outdoorsy stuff. It’s no fun for someone (aka: me) with skin so pale it’s almost transparent to spend an entire weekend outside, in the sun and heat. Blah.

I’m spending my long weekend celebrating my little bro’s graduation from high school… which, incidentally, is going to be held outside.

i will be on said pontoon boats. having a blast. (and i love that it’s boats plural. we had so much fun last summer that felix and i got TWO boast this year!)

everyone told me that we should invite you – but i knew better from last year ;-) apparently nobody believed me and they invited you anyway.

but ask yourself this question: what if lori mckenna were on that boat?

  9. Our plans have suddenly and spontaneously included a boat and possibly a boat house, or a lake house, or a house boat…or something. I’m dying inside.

Sounds like a fun weekend! We don’t have Memorial Day in Israel- but we did have Jerusalem Day today! We celebrated with lots of troops and locked down roadways.

We don’t have Memorial Day, but last weekend was Victoria Day, so that was our three day weekend. And it was good…other than the snow. This weekend, though, I will probably be writing a sermon for Sunday, packing my hospital bag, and socializing with some of Jon’s friends.
