Horrid, rotten teeth

blog

You have no idea what a numb-face I am right now.

Three miserable cavities down.  Many, many more to go.

Oh yes.  The initial number was seven, but they are spreading – spreading like tweets about “Inception.”  This is some kind of mysterious, contagious decay that moves from tooth to tooth, and if I don’t get these fillings, like, yesterday, then my whole mouth is going to fall off.

I had to apply for a CareCredit credit card to cover the cost of this dental work.

I hate it when things feel out of my control – when I’m doing all the right things, being responsible with my health and hygiene and finances, but it doesn’t make a difference.  The shaft cometh regardless.

Damn you, shaft.

(And yes, I know – things could be so much worse.  I am counting my blessings – and I have more blessings than I have (horrid, rotten) teeth.  But I just want to wallow for a second, okay?  A GIRL NEEDS THE OCCASIONAL WALLOW.)

Oh yikes. I hate days like this. Ick ick ick. Even worse when it involves money. :(

Misery loves company story? Yesterday, I was looking through a friend’s facebook pictures and found a picture where her friend was wearing the Anthro dress I just splurged on. Then, in the *same* picture, I recognized the OTHER Anthro dress I’d splurged on months ago to wear to weddings this summer… on my friend’s MOTHER.

We live in a fallen world, that’s what.

And I need to get to the dentist too. :( This makes me nervous. Hang in there, little numby. This too shall pass.

I have a cavity in a wisdom tooth. The dentist said I have to get them removed because its so far back he’d rather not fix it. I have no dental ins. and if I apply for it, it does not cover wisdom teeth for the first year. I hate wisdom teeth.

Good luck with the rest of the fillings.

it could be worse. you could have paid over 10 grand to have had your jaws cut into pieces and rearranged like a jigsaw puzzle, and then wired shut for 2 months. just sayin’.

Here I was whining about having to get THREE shots before my tooth was numb enough to not feel the drill & you tell this story. Got to say, my worst nightmare. Really. I’d rather have female surgery than go to the dentist. So you have my total sympathy – & please, wallow all you want!

dental work has been the bain of my existence and wallet. Its rough…but you’ll get through it. Wallow and wail…and then be free. :)

Annie. besides my empathy for you from one who also suffers from dental trauma (I use THREE kinds of prescription toothpaste. I didn’t even know that was a thing before), I hope it will bring you comfort to know that my day calmed down a lot after reading this. Something big and stupid happened today with money and made me feel SO irresponsible, even though I AM doing all the right things. it does feel like it’s out of my control and it’s so frustrating, and it’s nice to know I’m not the only one in this boat. peace friend.

Okay I saw that you mentioned a CareCredit card, so I have to ask… you’re not going to a Comfort Dental in Denver are you? I worked for Comfort Dental for about 3 months and they’re a very shady company…and I know they do CareCredit accounts. Hopefully I’m wrong and you’re not going there!

We had to do CareCredit recently for my husband. And that saga continues, too! I feel ya.

That she does. But Greta’s story must’ve made you feel a smidge better, huh?

I deal with this stuff all day, so I just have one favor to ask: PLEASE do NOT take out your frustration/anxiety on your hygienist. Like the woman today who told me 3 times in a mere 45 minutes how much she hated our office (seriously?! As Stephanie Tanner would say…HOW RUDE!).
CareCredit is a blessing and Rx toothpaste too!

Awww. I hate cavities too – all the more because I’m a faithful brusher. And insurance stuff just stinks. YUCK.
