The last blog of the year

My sister Sarah recently introduced me to DJ Earworm, who, at the end of each December, creates an epic mashup of the top 25 songs of the year.

They are ridiculous.

I know I love country music, but Earworm makes me want to be a pop star SO BAD.

Check them out – 2007, 2008, 2009, and as of this week, 2010.

No better way to ring in the new year – that is, aside from celebrating Mel & Jesse’s wedding tonight.  I’ll be in a silver dress and sparkly heels.  It’s my last night in Nashville before pointing my wheel west tomorrow, and driving for one million miles back to Denver.

[I just read that sentence out loud to Julie, and she, in all seriousness, asked, “Is it really one million miles to Denver?”  The sweetie.]

And not to set all of you ON EDGE for my entire one million mile drive, but this week, while idling at stop lights, the Honda has started smelling like burned rubber.  Diagnoses?  My suspicion is that the clutch is going out – and if that were the case, should I… not drive away tomorrow?

Check back in 2011 to find out what has become of me.

One of the FIRST things I thought of when I woke up this morning was, “It’s Mel’s wedding today! Ooo, I hope Annie has fun.” Thinking of the JAM beauties this New Year’s Eve. :)

Tomorrow while you’re driving, I’ll be on my New Years walk! Time for a catch up?

You’re funny. YOu make me laugh. Happy New Year in a sparkly dress!

Annie – about the Honda. A dead clutch will stop you cold (and you could BE cold in the middle of that drive). So – go have it checked out. It would cost you more to get it fixed on the road. One way to test it (according to the Car Guys) set the emergency brake on the Honda and then try to let the clutch out while in first gear. It should stall – if it doesn’t it means it’s slipping.See post here:

    Test it before you leave.

    Peg – your worried friend.

Peg has given you good advice. It will be much easier to get it fixed in Nashville than on the side of the road, 50 miles from Nowhere, Kansas. Probably cheaper too.

    You do have AAA, right?

Happy New Year, Miss Annie – I keep glancing over at your facebook profile picture on the right, to see if you’ve added a new character :). Is that a super nephew?

I love DJ Earworm. I started listening to him in 2008, when I found this website: It is a mashup compilation that is put together, each year, and DJ Earworm has contributed a few.

I really cannot reconcile my feelings about the fact that some of the top songs of 2010 were sung by my childhood friend. How is that even possible? Also, DJ Earworm is a phrase that makes me squirm a little.

Okay, these songs are actually really intense. I’m getting hardcore flashbacks to college. I love it. Also, I have chills. That’s some serious mashupedness.

    Really, that is all.
