Friday flickers

blog

So.  It’s Friday again.  And not a moment too soon.

I’m making this soup for dinner tonight.  After Mom’s gift of the entire pantry, I have every single ingredient on hand.

I started training for the Seattle Half-Marathon, which is happening the Sunday after Thanksgiving.  It feels good to be running again.

I had stopped buying bread altogether, but then I rediscovered sourdough.

Do I know anyone in Montana?  I can’t remember.

Last night, Becca and I asked Toad which of our rooms she wanted to sleep in.  She stood in the hallway, looked back and forth between our bedrooms, and then hopped into mine.

I slept under my down comforter last night.  It’s that chilly now.

I want my hair to be long and glam.  The next minute, I want it to be short and sassy.  In the meantime, it’s probably just in a ponytail because I probably haven’t taken the time to style it in days.

I’m starting a new book, “Little Bee.”  I got it at McKay’s used bookstore in Nashville for $2.  I wish I could find a great used bookstore in Denver.

Not too long ago, a boy made me count how many dresses I had in my closet – and there were more than 40.  I got rid of a bunch.  But now, I need a cocktail dress, and nothing I own is right for the occasion.  Again – yes, I know.

OMG, Jonathan Taylor Thomas is 30.

hair? i am currently the president of the dreaded in-between group and plot to fake a scandal and be kicked out of office. but, oh how i want it long and luscious! but i got so many compliments when it was short! are hair extensions the solution?! these are the things that keep me up at night, i tell ya. right now? day 4 of the ponytail.

i went to target to buy a new dress for a wedding sunday then decided to just suck it up and wear something i already owned because, omg, what if someone shows up in the same dress?!

Little Bee is remarkable. I read most of it on a train. It will indeed slay you.

Oh, I totally had fresh basil leaves in the fridge, too. Tell Becca to pick them up on Monday, along with the fresh mozz. cheese and anything else she can take.

Love. And like Emily I am bummed I did not have the option of buying them off you. I’d diet and squeeze into them and be fab.

I read your blog daily, in Montana, and yes, you know me, or at least you’ve met me. Coming this way?

My hair is getting super long, but it will never be glam. Too much work. (I don’t like my hair short, though, because it makes me look like I have a big fat potato head).

My soon-to-be brother-in-law has more than 110 t-shirts. I say “more than” because they quit counting at that point. Feel better about the dresses?

You know what I find weirdest about Jonathan Taylor Thomas being 30? It’s not that he’s 30 and I’m all “Oh my gosh, I’m so old.” No, it was the realization that he and I are the same age… which means I totally SHOULD have been one of those girls cooing all over him 20 years ago, but I wasn’t. I always assumed he was younger and thought he was spectacularly annoying.

Please tell Toad I say hi. She doesn’t know who I am, but I think she seems like one of the best dogs ever.

I was going to say that you know Courtney in Montana, but she beat me to it. You met her at my wedding.
