Perfect fit

blog

In her memoir “Eat, Pray, Love,” Elizabeth Gilbert succinctly defines the human condition as simply “the heartbreaking inability to sustain contentment.”

Any attempt that I throw at happiness will eventually fade. No amount of money, power, fame, clout, success, wit, possessions, or H-O-double-T hottness is going to be enough to fulfill that eternally aching place in my spirit. I know that on my own, I cannot make and keep myself content – it’s impossible.

But I thought I would try, anyway.

Behold! My new shoes!

The picture shows the color to be greyish, but trust me, these babies are teal. As soon as I set eyes on these gems, I thought, “Now, those are Annie Shoes if I’ve ever seen them.” And since I had a gift card given to me on my birthday, they were free (thanks, Becca!).

Whoever said that you can’t buy happiness has obviously never been to Target.

Ohhhh, I love those shoes. Target has really cute (and painful) fall shoes now. So when I see them I just imagine the inevitable red marks, band-aids and feet sweat so that I don’t buy them.

I would love love to hang out. Just let me know when you’re free. I actually sat at a traffic light right next to you a few days ago. I was going to honk, but I like to stay at a low level of crazy these days.

Actually, these are quite comfy and sturdy. I can walk fast in them – not like my red heels of lore.

I’m so glad the last word in this post wasn’t K-Mart.

    That cracks me up.

I was looking through In Style yesterday, the one with Uma on the front. I was shocked at how few things there were that actually appealed to me.

I wondered if I have given up on having pretty things. I just need a fix, perhaps. Maybe when Annie Cho is here, we can all go shopping?!

OH. Mygosh. I almost bought those! There were on my feet for at least 10 minutes at the store as I racked my brain trying to figure out what I had in my closet already that I could wear with them. I couldn’t think of enough things, OR of where they would fit in my closet, so i had to put them back :(

But I am SO glad you have them, because they are fabulous! :)

Yay! I think an Allie + Annie(squared) outing would be fun! Even if we don’t buy anything, it’ll be fun to pretend we’re Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman” (after Richard Gere gives here carte blanche spending privelages).

    I’m so, so excited!
