Denver: treating me well

picture-4

A childhood friend from my hometown of Montrose, CO, is being featured on Tom Brokaw’s documentary, “American Character Along Highway 50,” which airs tonight at 8/7c on the USA Network.  Watching Jeff’s clip reminds me of just how beautiful western Colorado is – one of those things that I didn’t appreciate until I moved away.  If you can, tune in; I’ve watched some of the teaser videos, and it looks fascinating.

Also, Tom Brokaw… who doesn’t love Tom Brokaw??

I hate it when people just write recaps of “what I did this weekend” – because BOOOORING – but I’m sorry, this was a great weekend.  Why, pray tell?  Well…

– I spent Friday night at a private party for the PBR – the bull riders, not the beer – and Pat Green winked at me from onstage.
– My dad came over on Saturday morning and helped me hang up my curtain rods and do all sorts of other “dad” things.
– I sold my couch on Craigslist for $15 more than what I paid for it…
– … so I bought these towels (please don’t look at the price, it’s embarrassing).
– I went on a long run (7.3 miles at a mile high – not too shabby).
– I had Thai food with two new friends, Karmen and Scotty – and they’re really great!  Finding good people in a new city is an amazing thing.
– Duane was the East Nasty of the Week.
– One of my best friends from high school who lives in the Denver area had her first baby – welcome, Noelle Elizabeth!
– I went on a 6-mile walk around the city.
– I drove the hour down to my parents’ last night.

I don’t know, it was just a really great weekend.  Productive without being work, fun without being exhausting.  So far, this move has been surprisingly okay.

    I LOVE those towels!

And, while most people’s weekend recaps might be boring, yours most surely is not. You are one of those lucky people who happen to be interesting, no matter what you do.

    Lucky you! Lucky us!

The weekend recap = boring? I think not. Let us all not forget the epic words given to us from Loverboy, “Everybody’s working for the weekend.”

So bring on the great stories, happy times, etc. Although, and I am sure that I am not only one in Nashville who thinks this way, we hope that your good times in Denver never fully eclipse your GREAT TIMES here in Nashvegas!

Such a fun weekend! And I have a confession…I saw those VERY towels in Country Living this month, drove to 2 BB&B’s (including Rivergate, UGH!) to ogle them, and then walked away without them. I convinced myself that my boring white ones were sufficient. But now that I see that you have them, I might just have to drive back down (to Cool Springs) to get some. I love them! Can’t wait to see you soon!

Weekend recaps are only boring when boringly (is that a word?) written… Your weekend sounds wonderful.

    Cute towels.

    Welcome Noelle! Babies are awesome.

Because I am now an honorary Texan, I wondered if the “PBR” on your shirts meant “Professional Bull Riding.” I know this because that’s exactly what we did for New Years. Then we went to Billy Bob’s – Where Pat Green sings about all the time.
P.S. YOu should come to Texas so you can wink at Pat Green – from his driveway. Plus, we have our very own bulls (not that I would ride any of them). That’s all.
