My new friends

I have a crush on my new friends Bryan and Stephanie. So much so that I felt the need to post TWO blogs in one day.

I met these two several months back, and yet our paths have not really crossed since. But due to the wonders of the Facebook, we recently discovered some crazy coincidences:
1) They are both ENFP’s (my favorite personality type, as I have already established).
2) Starting on Sunday, they gave up alcohol for 6 weeks. Starting on Sunday, I gave up alcohol for 6 weeks. Are you joking me?
3) Stephanie’s signature item of clothing is her red coat. (HELLO. Me too!)

So via the internet (how I meet most of my friends these days, apparently), we decided that last night would be our first date, and they invited me over to their wonderful Ballard abode for dinner. I stayed for hours and hours, talking and asking questions and listening to the flurry of thoughts that they have. Both graphic designers, they were kind enough to show me amazing samples from their portfolio. Bryan and Stephanie are two of the most compelling, creative, and curious people I have ever met.

Among many other things, I was particularly struck by their continual effort to live their lives in accordance with their faith. However, their faith is fleshed out in very different ways than I have seen before. Conversation with them challenged me, and left me questioning the culture that we so often accept simply because “it’s just the way we do things.”

In a world where Paris Hilton’s party antics and Queen Elizabeth’s white tie dinner with the president are the top stories on the news, I would choose a night like last night with friends like Bryan and Stephanie any day.

If I am an ISTJ (as one EXTREMELY brief quiz recently told me) does that mean you actually would NOT want to be my friend in real life? I need to know.

Of COURSE I want to be your friend! ISTJs are super loyal, and have a pretty dry wit, and are practical and GET THINGS DONE… all things that I, as a fellow I–J highly appreciate. I think my mom is an ISTJ…
