Happy as a clam who is one year older

Becca and Sarah sent me a cute lunch bag, just like I wished for.  It is quilted and floral and insulated and zippered and tall enough for a water bottle.

I bought myself a vacuum cleaner at Wal-Mart at 10:30pm last night.  It’s a 12-volt Dirt Devil, and I assembled it by hand until midnight.

So, is it unoriginal if I say “happy birthday”? Oh well, I’m not very original, so…HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Have you ever considered celebrating your birthday in Edmonton? I mean, we do have a rather large mall, so what more could you want? Oh, and I saw my first moose the other day, right after I saw a bison…think how great of a birthday that would be! So, next year? Edmonton? Done. Hope you’re having a great day. You’re awesome.

that’s like a vera bradley-style lunch bag! i understand why you’re happy. when i was little, my mom would buy vera bradley-style placemats and sing mary poppins songs while she put them on the table.

happy birthday, annie! a funny clip from the office for you!

Happy birthday, Annie!!! Hope it was lovely. Mine is tomorrow and I am blessed to be able to spend it with ash and jer and your precious nephews. Today they showed me the cowboy hat you gave them and we took it with us to the zoo.

  22. hootenannie on August 4, 2009 at 11:58 PM

Um. Andy. It is a Vera Bradley lunch bag. No big deal.

  23. Dad on August 5, 2009 at 1:23 PM

You are, without a doubt,a Ferrari. FInely tuned, no one can match you. Beautiful in all your lines, in all your ways. You are priceless.

And even Ferraris need vacuum cleaners.

Happy 27th birthday, adult child. I remember the moment you were born, and I cannot believe it has all gone by so fast.

Love, your one and only dad.

  24. hootenannie on August 5, 2009 at 6:31 PM

Well Dad, to be fair, a Ferrari is very fickle. It may look awesome (obviously – duh), but when it’s broken, it takes a lot to fix it. It operates very well in some situations, but in others, it might as well be a wheelbarrow.

Just doing my part to bounce away any biased compliments left in the open for anyone to see… :)

    (But thanks. :) )

  25. Dad on August 5, 2009 at 6:47 PM

It’s true. Ferraris, when out of tune, not only run poorly but cost a fortune to fix. You unfortunately saw beneath my barely concealed message. HOWEVER, having said that, is there anything more beautiful, and is there anything more efficient and powerful and delightful than a Ferrari when all is well? The point might be that I am a Toyota and you are a Ferrari. Or that one is capable only of a lot of mundane and everyday results, and one is stunning in their ability to impact the world. You have been given a weighty burden.

  29. Casey Evans on August 6, 2009 at 12:14 PM

Man, I’m behind the times… having an infant will do that for you. So…
    #1 Happy bday
#2 what kind of GUY knows who Vera Bradley is?! You are officially a Southerner now, with that lunch bag. Los bought me a Vera when we lived in Jax. Happiest day of my life. Not really. But kinda.
#4 (b/c the last one was really two) Your dad is awesome
and #5 I need your new, non-convicts as neighbors, address. Like yesterday. Claire would like to send you something in the mail. She’s kind of a big deal.

  30. wrecklessgirl on August 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM

i, too, tend to buy vacuum cleaners (only, at target) in the middle of the night.
