Oh thank heaven for 2011

I’m a humongous fan of New Years Resolutions, although I can’t think of one that I’ve ever actually accomplished.  I think that my issue is the fact that I think up these lofty, abstract goals, like “do nicer things,” or “pray more,” or, you know, my constant companion and perennial favorite, “be hot.”

2011, though?  It’s going to be different.

Why, you ask?

Because I am doing away with my theoretical wishes, and have come up with 12 concrete goals.

And when Annie Parsons sets a goal, she achieves it (case in point: the “Twilight” series).

Here they are, in no particular order – my 2011 12:
1) Shoot a gun.
2) Go out to dinner by myself.
3) Travel internationally.
4) Climb at least 10 14ers.
5) Stop eating the same thing for lunch every day.
6) Sing somewhere in Denver.
7) Send 52 hand-written letters.
8) Read Steinbeck’s “East of Eden.”
9) Take an honest-to-goodness vacation that lasts an entire week.
10) Snowshoe.
11) One that I’m keeping a secret.
12) Be hot.

Sorry.  Old habits die hard.

You could take care of 1,8,9, and 10 up here in anchorage.
Just saying…we are pretty kick ass up here

que joy rising up in my heart.
can we officially meet as you’re finishing it, so we can discuss over a bottle of wine? :)

I did east of eden this year. I didn’t know if I liked it until the very. end. at which point, I really, really liked it.

Very good list. Attainable. :) I love #7. As for #12, done.

I love this list, especially #’s 8 and 10. With the first big snowfall this year I grabbed East of Eden and took a solo snowshoe hike up into the mountains to read for a few minutes – any longer and your hands freeze. Something special about being in a beautiful place with a powerful book.

p.s. My Dad loves your CD!

Have you ever traveled internationally before? If not…GO TO LONDON! Please…since I can’t go back there right now. :) I can live vicariously through you! I went there alone for a week in 2009 and I didn’t want to come back. :)

You could totally take care of #1 if you visited the Andersons. You could also add “Take care of chickens,” “ride in a truck chased by cows,” “go fishing,” “ride a horse bareback” and “go to the World’s Largest Honkey Tonk” or just the one at the end of my road where Pure Country was filmed. Please come!

  12. […] Mt. Massive, which was my 24th 14er, and my 10th of the summer (which checks #4 off my list of goals for 2011).  Saturday also marked the 4-year anniversary of my move from Seattle – which, in some […]
