Are you ready for joy?

One of my nearest and dearest, Christina, sent this to me yesterday.  She remembers well my deep and abiding love for “Newsies” (to this day, Jack Kelly might remain my biggest crush), and combined with my newfound fascination with one Lady Gaga, this is pure magic.

Who was your favorite newsie?

Oh. my. heavens. You have no idea how much this means to me. I am filled with joy.

As far as I’m concerned, there are no other newsies besides Jack. I would love to have Christian Bale’s children. Meagan Bale…Sigh.

SPOT CONLON. “nevah feah brooklyn is heah.” true love.

  3. wrecklessgirl on June 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM

pure awesome. but, ya know, newsies are sufficient on their own. just standing there. staring. soooo hawt. we’ll marry them all and start a colonic. i mean, a colony.

TOTALLY had a crush on brooklyn boy, and who didn’t love crutchy?

  6. kate on June 8, 2010 at 11:14 AM

Oh, this just made my day. LOVED Jack Kelly.

  7. Emily on June 8, 2010 at 11:26 AM

Oh my. My cheeks hurt from grinning. I will forever love Newsies, all of them!

  8. Alissa on June 8, 2010 at 12:53 PM

So glad to know that we weren’t the only high school girls getting together to watch Newsies over and over and over…

  9. rachel on June 8, 2010 at 1:01 PM

This makes me want to watch it right now. This very instant. And sing a long, at the top of my lungs, to every song. And say the lines with the characters. Sigh.

Jack Kelly was my favorite character, and Christian Bale is still one of my favorite actors. Although with this video all I could think about is the dance moves didn’t go with “Bad Romance”-and I love me some Lady Gaga-as well as they went with the other song…am I allowed to say that or is this a time where if I “have nothing nice to say I shouldn’t say it at all”? “Open the gates and seize the day…don’t be afraid and don’t delay…” :)

Spot Conlon….I used to pause it when he first came on the screen, and just gaze.

And, I was completely jealous of Sarah. Could you imagine?? 19yo and the only girl in a movie with a bunch of hunky 16-25 year olds? Dream!

  12. annie on June 8, 2010 at 3:20 PM

Wow, I feel really out of place here. Never seen that. Adding to my Netflix queue right now. Forgive me?

  13. Jacklyn on June 8, 2010 at 4:27 PM

This made me laugh. I have NEVER seen the Newsies. I know, my parents have failed. Hopefully we can still be friends.

  14. Sarah on June 8, 2010 at 5:01 PM

Crutchy and David Jacobs…I always had a thing for the brainiac.

  15. Casey Evans on June 8, 2010 at 5:47 PM

    definitely Spot.

  16. Jessica Van Deusen on June 8, 2010 at 9:19 PM

SPOT!!! i put my tv on pause and took pictures of him!

I’m also a fan of Newsies and I am beginning to enjoy Lady Gaga…and THIS made me smile after a rough day at work. :)

I don’t know you, Annie, but a friend sent this to me and we would watch it over and over… I think we even tried to learn some of the dances… oh the memories.

I was always partial to the eye-patch kid. for some reason he always stood out.

I watched this movie at LEAST 3 times a week when it came out on video. Back in the day it was ALL about Spot… but now when I watch it I lean entirely towards Jack… aye aye aye… My biggest aspiration at the age of 9 was to move to NYC and marry a Newsie. What a life that would have been.

  20. Sarah Kate on June 9, 2010 at 10:41 AM

P.s. Did you see the Glee Lady Gaga episode? A must-see. Amazingness.

  21. hootenannie on June 9, 2010 at 5:41 PM

It’s probably stupid to comment on my own blog, but I’ve watched this at least 15 times since yesterday. Sigh. Sigh of joy. :)

  22. Mary on June 10, 2010 at 10:55 AM

I’m not kidding, Annie: I ACTUALLY STARTED CRYING at little bit, I was so excited watching this. Ask my roommates. THIS MAKES MY WEEK.

I love Gaga. But Jack Kelly was my first love, and will be in my heart forever.
